SUNDAY'S SERMON

RADICAL GOSPEL

Sept. 5, 2010

Radicalis: Developing Spiritual Roots

"I am not ashamed of the gospel because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes; first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written, "The righteous will live by faith." Romans 1:16-17

CHRIST DIED FOR MY SINS
(A personal event)

Sin is missing the mark -or- knowing where the mark is and aiming in a different direction.

  • He carried our sins in His body (1 Pet. 2:24)
  • He was made to be sin for us (2 Cor. 5:21)
  • He gave His life a ransom for many (Matt 20:28)
  • He took away the sins of the world (John 1:29)
  • He gave His life for the sheep (John 10:11)
  • He purchased the church with His blood (Acts 20:28)
  • We are justified thru the redemption of Christ (Rom 3:24)
  • Jesus is the propitiation through faith in His blood. (Rom 3:25)
  • God commended His love to us in the death of Jesus (Rom 5:8)
  • We are justified through His blood (Rom 5:9)
  • We are reconciled to God through the deth of His son (Rom 5:10)
  • We are buried by baptism into Christ's death (Rom 6:3-4)
  • God condemned sin in the flesh of His Son (Rom 8:3)
  • God did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all (Rom 8:32)
  • In His death, Christ is our Passover, sacrificed for us (1 Cor 5:7)
  • We are bought with the price paid in Christ's death (1 Cor 6:20)
  • He died that we might no longer live unto ourselves, but unto Him who died for us. (2 Cor 8:15)
  • He gave Himself to deliver us from this present evil world (Gal 1:4)
  • In His death, He redeemed us from the curse of the Law (Gal 3:13)
  • We have redemption through His blood, even the forgiveness of sins (Eph 1:7)
  • We are made nigh unto God by the blood of Christ (Eph 2:13)
  • In His flesh, Jesus abolished the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances (Eph 2:15)
  • He gave Himself to sanctify and cleanse the church (Eph 5:26)
  • Christ died in order to present His church to Himself without spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing (Eph 5:27)
  • He made peace through the blood of His cross (Col 1:20)
  • In the cross, He plundered principalities and powers, making a public display of them (Col 2:15)
  • In His death, he delivered us from the wrath to come (1 Thess 1:10)
  • He died for us that whether we wake or sleep, we might live together with Him (1 Thess 5:10)
  • He gave Himself to redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto Himself a special people, zealous of good works (Tit 2:14)
  • He obtained eternal redemption for us (Heb 9:12)
  • Through Christ's blood, our conscience is cleansed, or purged, from dead works (Heb 9:14)
  • Through His death we receive the promise of an eternal inheritance (Heb 9:15)
  • The New Covenant, or "will", has been sanctified by the blood of Christ (Heb 10:10)
  • In offering Himself in death, Jesus has perfected forever all who are sanctified (Heb 10:14)
  • Through His blood, we enter into the holiest place - the very presence of God (Heb 10:19)
  • The way to God has been dedicated through Christ's death (Heb 10:20)
  • Through His blood, we are washed from our sins and made kings and priests unto God (Rev 1:5-6)

HE WAS BURIED!

  • In His burial He was "numbered with the transgressors" (Isa 53:12)
  • While His body was in the tomb, He preached to the spirits that were disobedient in the days of Noah (1 Peter 3:18-20; 4:6)
  • In our baptism we are "buried with Christ" (Rom 6:4; Col 2:12)
  • the burial of Christ was "the sign of the prophet Jonah" to an adulterous generation (Matt 12:39-40)
  • His grave was made wth the wicked and the rich as well (Isa 53:9)
  • the woman with the precious alabaster box of ointment anointed Jesus for His burial (Matt 26:7-12)

HE ROSE AGAIN
(for God's glory and for our benefit)

This is the engine of our salvation.

  • Jesus was declared to be "the Son of God with power, by the resurrection from the dead" (Rom 1:4)
  • We are raised from baptism like Jesus was raised from the dead "by the glory of the Father" (Rom 8:4)
  • Jesus was "raised for our justification (Rom 4:25)
  • We are reconciled by His death, and saved by His (resurrection) life (Rom 5:10)
  • In regeneration, we are united with Him "in His resurrection" (Rom 6:5)
  • Righteousness is imputed to us if we believe on "Him who raised Jesus form the dead" (Rom 8:24)
  • His resurrection is God's pledge that we will also be raised (1 Cor 6:14; 2 Cor 4:14)
  • The same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead dwells in believers, giving life to their mortal bodies. (Rom 8:11)
  • The resurrection of Christ validated His death and inducted Him into His intercessory ministry (Rom 8:34)

CHRIST ROSE AGAIN!

RADICAL LOVE
Radicalis: Developing Spiritual Roots

August 29, 2010

"May your roots go down deep into the soil of God's marvelous love." Eph. 3:17 (NLT)

"For God so loved the world that he gave his Only begotten Son wthat whosoever believes in him should not Perish but have Everlasting Life." John 3:16 (KJV)

"God so loved the world...": The Greatest Love

(Eph 1:4; Psalm 145:9-10; Rom. 8:39; Eph. 3:18-19)

God's love for you is intense.

God's love for you is extravagent.

God's love for you is lavish.

"That he Gave his only begotten Son..": The Greatest Sacrifice.

(Col 1:15; John 14:9; Rom. 5:8; 1 John 2:2; 2 Cor. 5:21)

"He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation."

"that WHOEVER BELIEVES in him should not perish..." The Greatest Offer

(Titus 2:11; Acts 10:35; Rom 10:9; John 12:47)

What does it really mean to believe?

To trust in, cling to, rely on

To have a relationship with

"but have EVERLASTING LIFE!": The Greatest Gift

(1 Peter 1:3-4; Eph. 1:5; 2 Cor 6:2)

What happens when you accept Christ?

1. You get your past forgiven

2. You get a purpose for living

3. You get a home in heaven

RADICAL JOY

  1. Romans 8:1 " Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus."
  2. Romans 8:11 "And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you he who raised Christ from the dead will also give your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you."
  3. Romans 8:28 "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose."
  4. Romans 8:32 "He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all - how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?"

"RADICAL FAITH"
Radicalis: A Live Rooted in God

August 15, 2010

"Without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him." Hebrews 11:6 (NIV)

RADICAL FAITH IS having deep spiritual roots in God, believing God and acting on
His promises

1. Faith is believing when I don't see it. (Hebrews 11:1 (NIV)

Faith is visualizing the future in the present
Faith is seeing in advance.

2. Faith is obeying when I don't understand it. Hebrews 11:7 (NLT) Heb. 11:8 (TEV)

Examples: Abraham & Noah
Obedience always involves taking risks
Whenever God asks you to do something, it's a test. It's a test of your faith. Who/What am I going to trust?

3. Faith is persisting when I don't feel like it Heb. 11:27 (NLT) Heb 11:1(NLT)

How do you get there?
-You begin to see the invisible
-You see what God can do in your life.

4. Faith is announcing it in order to experience it. Heb. 11:22 (NLT); Heb 11:3 (MSG); Psalm 33:9 (NIV); Rom 4:11 (NIV); Rom 4:17 (LB); Rom. 10:10 (TEV)

You say it to sense it.

5. Faith is giving from the heart. Heb. 11:4 (GN); 2 Cor 8:2-3 (ICB); Prov. 3:9 (LB); 1 Cor. 16:2 (LB)

Two ways you can give: You can give by reason or you can give by revelation.
It's not about your money! It's about your faith!

6. Faith is thanking God before I receive it. Heb 11:30 (NIV); Mark 11:24 (GN); Matt 9:29 (NLT)

If I begin the day with Thanksgiving, I will live a life of faith

7. Faith is trusting God if I don't get it. Heb 11:39-40 (NIV); Rom 10:17 (NIV)

Why does real faith develop in the valleys of life, not in the mountains?

RADICAL GRATITUDE

Aug 8, 2010

"Radicals": a life rooted in God

Latin: Radicalis= from the 14th century Latin word "radicales"

"RADICAL" MEANS "FROM THE ROOTS."

(Colissians 2:6-7; Ephesians 3:17-19;Matthew 13:21; 2 Kings 19:30)

What we need today are "Radical-believers.." who go back to what God intended for us to do in the first place.

"But blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. He will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit." Jeremiah 17:7 & 8

3 Truths:

  1. They don't wilt when heat is on (pressure)
  2. They're not worried by "drought" (circumstances)
  3. they're productive "all year" (Galations 5)

"Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus." 1 Thess 5:18 (NIV)

WHY IS GRATITUDE ALWAYS GOD'S WILL?

  1. Gratitude honors God
  2. Gratitude creates fellowship
  3. Gratitude develops my faith
  4. Gratitude serves others.
  5. Gratitude is a witness to unbelievers

THE BENEFITS OF RADICAL GRATITUDE

  1. It keeps me in God's will.
  2. It makes me better not bitter.
  3. It lessens the devil's influcence.
  4. It allows me to accomplish "God-sized" objectives.

How will you practice the 5 ways this week?
